Background of the Study
Time management is a critical skill for healthcare professionals, especially nurses, who often work under pressure in fast-paced environments. Effective time management enables nurses to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver quality patient care. In Jigawa State, as in many parts of Nigeria, nurses face significant challenges related to understaffing, high patient loads, and resource constraints, which can impede their ability to manage their time efficiently.
The impact of time management on nursing efficiency has been widely recognized in various healthcare settings globally, but research on this topic in the context of Jigawa State remains sparse. This study aims to examine the relationship between time management skills and the efficiency of nurses in delivering care in Jigawa State, focusing on patient outcomes, task completion, and nurse well-being.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the recognized importance of time management in nursing, many nurses in Jigawa State struggle with balancing their duties due to high workloads and limited resources. Ineffective time management can result in delayed patient care, increased stress levels, and lower job satisfaction among nurses. This study will investigate how time management skills affect nursing efficiency and explore strategies to enhance time management practices in Jigawa State.
Objectives of the Study
1. To evaluate the time management skills of nurses in Jigawa State.
2. To assess the impact of time management on nursing efficiency and patient care outcomes.
3. To identify strategies that can help improve time management skills among nurses in Jigawa State.
Research Questions
1. What are the time management skills of nurses in Jigawa State?
2. How does effective time management impact nursing efficiency and patient care outcomes in Jigawa State?
3. What strategies can be employed to improve time management skills among nurses in Jigawa State?
Research Hypotheses
1. Nurses with effective time management skills demonstrate higher levels of efficiency and better patient care outcomes in Jigawa State.
2. Poor time management among nurses is associated with increased stress and lower job satisfaction in Jigawa State.
3. Time management training improves the efficiency and effectiveness of nurses in Jigawa State.
